President's MessageWelcome to the Junior League of Waco’s website. It is my honor to serve as the President of the 2012-2013 league year. The Junior League of Waco is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
This year the Junior League of Waco is “Wild About Service”. We have more than 190 active members who will invest their volunteer hours by enriching our community through our projects. We are excited about the launch of our newest project, Kids In The Kitchen, which will focus on childhood obesity and teaching proper nutrition. We will continue to work with other community partners such as Mission Waco in our Awesome Outings Project, Talitha Koum in our Backpack Program, and Hillcrest Hospital in our NICU Program. We are also supported by more then 370 sustaining members who continue to of give their finances, time and volunteer hours to support our mission. The sustaining members lead a very popular program, Musical Therapy, which involves the sustainers singing at local nursing homes on a weekly basis about 9 months out of every year for the last 33 years.
We are looking forward to hosting our annual Deck the Halls gift market, “Wild About the Holidays”. Our 4 day market will provide many opportunities for the community to shop, attend a Ladies Night Out event with friends, decorate gingerbread houses with their children at the Gingerbread House event, spend a morning having Brunch with Santa, and enjoy a Mother-Daughter Tea. The money raised during the gift market help fund our community programs and train our league members for future volunteer service in numerous areas throughout our community.
I hope that you will browse our website to learn more about us, our rich 76 year history in the community, how you can become a member and how to support our mission. Thank you for visiting the Junior League of Waco’s web site and for your interest.
